A two time gubernatorial apirant in Edo State and media practitioner, High Chief Jacob Egietseme Idinye, has predicted a landslide victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the September 21, 2024, Edo State governorship election.
He said unity among stakeholders is what was required to seal the landslide victory for the candidate of the party, Asue Ighodalo.
Idinye, who spoke in an interview with some selected political correspondents at the Benin airport on Monday, explained that disputes which arose from the PDP will have no effect on the mandate of the people for Asue Ighodalo, adding that the party had identified moles within its folk and had put them to where they rightfully belonged.
He maintained that from all indications, the people of Edo State have cast their lot with the PDP due to the overwhelming achievements and legacy projects of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led PDP administration.
The Etsako born media personality further stated that his position is a product of a careful and credible study as well as field analysis the people of Edo State who have tasted what true governance, dividends of democracy and service delivery is under the current administration.
He noted that lessons being learnt from the abysmal performance of the All Progressive Congress (APC) which is responsible for the hardship being experienced by Nigerians across the country will also play a part in the decision making process and the electoral choice of the people in the state.
High Chief Idinye said , “From all analysis the people of Edo State are supporting PDP heavily across the three Senatorial districts. The PDP is doing very well in Edo State under Governor Obaseki especially because of the numerous developmental and legacy projects of the governor. We have identified the moles amongst us and put them to where they rightfully belongs. PDP is coming together stronger and consolidating on the support we’re receiving from the citizenry. Once we’re united, we will definitely take APC to the cleaners in the forthcoming September 21 election.
“Nobody wants to risk having the APC in Edo State. What is happening in Nigeria today under the leadership of the APC is a clear signal that Nigerians across the country have rejected APC. Today, Nigerians in all parts of the country are crying and dying of hunger; there are killings, kidnapping and banditry across the land. That is why there is agitation against the APC everywhere including in Edo State. Thankfully the disenchantment in APC has turned out to be the gains of the PDP deservedly so.
“Due to the overwhelming popularity and acceptability of our candidate, the PDP campaign in Edo state has become a movement, pulling support across all ages, professions, class, communities, sectional, and even political affiliations with key members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state openly and publicly campaigning and declaring support for Dr. Asue Ighodalo daily. For the umpteenth time, PDP will record a landslide victory in the coming gubernatorial election on oir state ”
