The Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria has told visa applicants to attend their interviews as scheduled.
The Embassy stated this on Tuesday night in a post on its Facebook page.
This was contrary to the impression created earlier by another Facebook page that the Embassy was shutting down owing to the US Government shutdown.
The Embassy had on Monday at 11:54am said: “Due to the current U.S. government shutdown, the American Centers located in the Embassy, Abuja and Consulate General, Lagos are unfortunately closed. They will re-open once the U.S. government shutdown is resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience to our valued patrons.”
However on Tuesday night, the Embassy said its consulate will be opened in Lagos and Abuja for businesses.
It posted: “U.S. Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos remain open for for all consular business, including visa interviews. Please attend your regularly scheduled interview.”
Business will reopen in Nigeria after Tuesday’s holiday to observe the New Year celebration in Nigeria.
