Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba has reacted to the demise of former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, saying Nigeria has lost a brilliant mind and statesman who lived a spartan life.
Agba said the late Momoh, apart from being a great son of Afenmailand in the North Senatorial zone of Edo State, was a committed Nigerian patriot who continuously and relentlessly defended the unity and fought for the wellbeing of Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant (Media), Sufuyan Ojeifo, the minister said: “As a journalist, he was exemplary. He was penetrating and profoundly logical in his writings.
“As Minister of Information, he was very engaging in conveying the mind of the government in which he served through his unique ‘Letter to my Countrymen’.
“As a politician, he participated in the formation of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC); he contributed his quota to the process that birthed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also worked for the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari both as candidate of the legacy party and president in 2015.
“Without a doubt, a titan has passed on, leaving behind a legacy of distinguished service to the fatherland.
“I commisserate with the government and people of Edo State and the Federal Government of Nigeria on the passing away of a Nigerian patriot.
“I commiserate with his family members and I pray that the Almighty God would grant them the fortitude to bear the moumental loss.”
