The National President of Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practioners’ Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Otunba Bolaji Amusan popularly known as ‘Mr. Latin’ on Monday, February 17, 2020 led over 60 members of the association to the prestigious Ajayi Crowther University to study Cinematography and Film Studies.
To these movie practitioners, learning should be a continuous process considering the numerous benefits associated with it especially when it is done in a reputable higher institution of learning like the Ajayi Crowther University, which is what informed their decision to be engaged in this four months Course to update their knowledge base.
This information was made available to the media on Monday by Mr Yemi Amodu, TAMPAN’s National Director on Research and Documentations.
Amodu in a statement personally signed by him said; “TAMPAN under the leadership of Otunba Bolaji Amusan has exhibited progress and also recorded many feats since his inception to the exalted office of our highly respected association and we are indeed proud of him.
With TAMPAN under his leadership he has shown capacity with good example and as well leading others and encouraging them to follow suit. Therefore what was witnessed on Monday didn’t happen by accident because it is part of the association’s policy direction set out for the year to build professionals who will always exhibit the core rudiments of our profession.”
He continued, “We also believe education is a process of imparting skills, knowledge, values etc, in a formal setting which will as well create an avenue for us to evaluate our performances, skills and to check progress in tandem with contemporary and global best practices so that our teeming fans can appreciate our contents which of course are expected to be laced with proper technical details.”
Mr Amodu added, “One profession that cannot afford quackery and unethical conduct in whatever form and measure is movie production because of its sensitive nature. This is simply because the profession is a channel through which the society is being informed and in many cases through which the values, traditions, cultures and aspirations of that society are being promoted.
This is why the profession must not be only entrusted in the hands of well-trained people, but also those who are honest, unbiased, patriotic, seasoned and trustworthy.” The statement concluded.
