House of Representatives candidate for Zenith Labour Party in Ondo East and West Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Hon. Joseph Iranola Akinlaja has advised his constituents not to be discouraged in exercising their civic rights despite the postponement of the 2019 general elections.

“It came as a shock to many Nigerians this morning when we all heard the shocking news that INEC has postponed the elections by a week. I urge you all not to be discouraged. Do not be dismayed”

Akinlaja made this remarks while addressing thousands of supporters Saturday morning at his Hill Top Hotel in Ondo Town, Akiavic Blueroof Hotel, urging the people to come out in their numbers on 23rd February 2019 and vote.

The Ondo Rep. who is presently a ranking lawmaker at the House and Chairman Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream stated, “we all must be ready to vote next Saturday”. He maintained that the Ondo’s continued dream of robust and quality representation at the National Assembly especially with Dr Olusegun Mimiko in the fray (Ondo Central Senatorial Seat) would soon be a reality.

The astute politician (Akinlaja) who was onetime the General Secretary of NUPENG further extended his appreciation to his constituents made up of Zenith Labour Party youths, market women, students, artisans, religious and political leaders etc, assuring them that since they all trust in God, victory is surely for him (Hon. Joseph Iranola Akinlaja), Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and other candidates on the platform of Zentih Labour Party, emphasizing that the indelible achievements and enduring legacies left behind by the former Governor of the state (Mimiko) will always speak lounder in their favour.

Apart from acknowledging the efforts of the voting demography in his constituency, Akinlaja as well expressed his profound gratitude to the National Executive leadership of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG especially the President, Comrade Williams Akporeha, the Acting General Secretary, Comrade Afolabi Olawale, as well as the National Chairman of Petroleum Tanker Drivers branch of NUPENG (PTD), Comrade (Otunba) Akanni Salimon Oladiti for their unflinching support, encouragement and solidarity.

Besides, Akinlaja equally gave thumb up to the National leadership of Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO and members of Joseph Akinlaja Foundation (JAFO) who are mainly members of his family, well wishers, in-laws and long time friends.

It may be recalled that Nigeria’s electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed the general elections a few hours to the commencement of the electoral exercise at about 3am (February 16, 2019) an ugly development that has generated lots of negative narratives from Nigerians especially those of voting age.
