The Organised Labour, under the auspices of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, Lagos State Council, has elected a new leadership that will pilot the affairs of the council for the next two years.
The event, held at the secretariat of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Lagos State branch, Alausa, Ikeja, was attended by the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Agnes Funmi Sessi, her Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Gbenga Ekundayo, as well as the secretaries of both Labour unions and veterans of the movement.
The Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) comprises three councils. This is the first time in the history of the council that it will produce the chairman.
The composition of the JNC as recognised by law is as follows: Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Nigeria Union of Public Service Reportorial, Secretarial, Data Processor & Allied Workers (NUPSRAW), Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical & Recreational Service Employees (AUPCTRE), Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Agricultural and Allied Employees Union of Nigeria (AAEUN),
National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) and National Union of Printing, Publishing and Paper, Products Workers (NUPPPROW).
The following officers were elected: Comrade Olusegun Rahamon Balogun (ASCSN), chairman; Comrade Opaleye Taiwo (AUCPTRE), vice chairman and Comrade Sunday Fayose JP (NUAAE), secretary.
