As we mark the birthday of one of Nigeria’s decent and affable politicians on Sunday, January 3, 2021, Hon Rotimi Makinde, it is no doubt a remarkable and auspicious day to celebrate success, resilience, excellence, generosity, kindness, humility, optimism, patriotism, corporate social responsibility, and many more as typified by this thoroughbred Ife born iconic brand.
Obviously the great and principled people of Ife Federal constituency did justice to our constitutional democracy by making sure Hon. Rotimi Makinde had a legitimate entrance into the 7th Assembly, precisely at the Federal House of Representatives.
Time and events had revealed that Hon. Rotimi Makinde is a force to reckon with in the country’s political milieu not just in Osun State but in Nigeria. In the legislative circle where he held sway between 2011 to 2015 he uniquely displayed vibrant and blazing conduct that befits a true democrat and leader who shares in the feelings of the people and identifies with the pains of the moment in the life of the nation.
Hon. Makinde at the moment resoundly appears as one of the great sons of Osun State who every citizens of the state irrespective of the side of political divide are proud of has been caught in the webs of personal loyalty to friendship, party politics and ultimately, love for his people through various life impacting socio-economic empowerment. Of course he strongly has a date with destiny.
As a key loyalist to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State, his valuable contributions have added tremendous value to both human and material resources in the State, indeed posterity will judge him right in our political affairs.
Here is a disciplined and resolute man who has consistently refused to be cajoled by all sorts of juicy offers to compromise his loyalty and ‘sell’ his strong support base in the state. Such is a rare feat in our body politic.
Give it to this thorough bred politician, well exposed, cerebral, astute and academically sound personality who began his sojourn from the lowest cadre and now climbing to a higher position. It is natural that we reward and celebrate this man who knows that the Local Government needs funding because he could identify with them; who knows that all the ministries must work to its maximum best because he has deep knowledge of how they function; who knows that the legislature must be totally independent of the executive because his depth of understanding is phenomenal and apt. With a man like this there is future for Nigeria!
On this birthday of this quintessential and an amazing Nigerian, it is indeed, a unique opportunity to salute his selfless and unwavering commitment to humanity and astonishing accomplishments in life. It is hoped he would continue to usher in more grace to his accomplishments as he continues to further manifest his destined greatness. I have no iota of doubt that his mega vision, octopus mission and unassailable journey of purposive and selfless service to humanity would continue to magnify. Happy birthday to you. Congratulations
