President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N30,000 Relief Fund to every Nigerian With Verified BVN.
The President announced the relief package to be give out N30,000 to every Nigerian who has a verified BVN account to ease pressure posed by the order to lockdown economic activities.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina ,who announced the relief package, said “the N30,000 relief fund will be given to every Nigerian with verified BVN account. I am sure the fund will go a long way to help Nigerians stock up their home during the stay-at-home order by the Government.”
‘We have tabled about 40 millions Nigerians with valid BVN, the relief fund will be disbursed by the Ministry of Finance starting from today or latest tomorrow. Nigerian will start receiving credit alert to their bank account.”
He declared that relief fund would only be given through BVN, so it will be waste of time to start rushing to open many accounts.
In the gesture, the central bank of Nigeria has tabled about N10b credit funds to small businesses and individual for quick loan during the trial period, Nigerians advised getting more information on how to access the loan.
Nigeria is in a partial lockdown with Lagos State and Abuja badly affected. Nigeria cases of coronavirus have 81, with Lagos State on the lead followed by Abuja. Also, one death has been recorded and 2 have been discharged.
Nigeria’s 43 Cabinet Ministers had earlier agreed to donate 50% of their March 2020 salaries to support the Federal Government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
This was contained also in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.
Mohammed quoted the Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, who coordinated the donation, as saying it was a gesture of solidarity and support for the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle the disease.
”This global virus outbreak will require nations, continents and smaller communities to pull together to contribute their resources and support one another.
This will facilitate an early resolution of the problem,” according to the Minister.
The Ministers also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
With the donation, the Ministers have joined the growing number of Nigerians, including private- sector individuals and corperate organisations that have supported efforts to tackle the spread of the pandemic.
