BREAKING: Ekiti PDP Deputy Gov. Candidate, Funmilayo Ogun Steps Down Nomination, Informs National Chair

Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Funmilayo Theresa Ogun,  has officially turned down her nomination as running mate to the Party’s flag bearer, Olabisi Kolapo, at the state forthcoming governorship election slated for June 2022.

In a letter dated Thursday, 24th February 2022,  seen by veracitydesk.com.ng  and addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, Ogun declined her nomination.

Also copied in the letter captioned. ”Ekiti 2022 Re: My Nomination As Deputy Governorship Candidate” are the PDP’s National Organizing Secretary, National Secretary Ekiti State, the PDP Chairman Ekiti 2022, and the Gubernatorial Candidate.

In the letter, Mrs. Ogun, who was a former Commissioner for Works and Transportation from 2016- 2018, cited ‘personal reasons as to why she rejected her nomination as Deputy Governor.

The letter reads, “This is to formally inform you that I am not unaware of my nomination by Ekiti Stakeholders for the position of the Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 18” June 2022 Gubernatorial Election.

“Notwithstanding their good intentions, I formally write to reject the nomination for personal reasons.

“However, I appreciate the uncommon recognition and assuring the Party that no effort will be spared at ensuring our victory at the election.

“The Candidate can therefore be approached for a fresh Nomination.”
