Akeredolu To Create Local Governments, LCDAs In Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Monday called for the submission of memoranda from various communities in the state for the creation of Local Council Development Authority (LCDA).

Akeredolu who made this call in Irele, headquarters of Irele Local Government Area of the state during a “Thank you “visit to the southern senatorial district of the state, said his administration would conduct a referendum on the LCDA

The governor said the creation of LCDA in the state became imperative to fast track development in the state and also to bring the people of the grassroots closer to the government.

He said apart from this, the LCDA would further usher more benefits of governance to the people at the local levels.

Akeredolu said a committee would soon be set up by the state government to ensure the success of the LCDA in the state while he disclosed that the committee would be responsible for the collection of the memoranda from communities seeking LCDA in their area.

Akeredolu, however, commended the people of the districts for their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election and solicited for their continued support for the current administration in the state.

He said that his government continue to turn around the state in terms of development in all facets, saying that the only way to show appreciation for his victory recorded during the last polls was through greater performance.

He called on the people to support his government so that more development projects would be executed in the towns and villages in the state.

“My appreciation to our people for the victory recorded during the last election and this could better be shown through the kind of work we are going to embark upon in the state.

“We have come here today, not for politics but to thank you and appreciate you for all you have done for our party in the last election.

“You have shown your support by voting for our House Assembly candidates in the election and we are assuring you of unprecedented development in all areas,” Akeredolu said.

We are here to appreciate you and I am assuring you we will construct more roads in this area. We are also renovating schools here and we will not relent in renovating these schools and putting in place more new structures.

“We will ensure we conduct a referendum on the establishment of local council development area to further bring the benefits of governance to the people,” the governor said.

The chairman caretaker committee of lrele council area Odimayo Gbadebo expressed concern over the Obaship crisis in the town pleading with the governor to help facilitate the process of appointing a new traditional ruler for the town.

Gbadebo commended state government over the completion of the road linking lrele with Okitipupa and other neighbouring council areas of the town by the present administration.

He equally commended the governor for the approval of the construction of Secretariat/ Sabomi road with an asphalt overlay.
